  We had great experience with Cooks Hill until recent months. The Director and Assistant Director have second jobs that keep them from the center often, leaving 2 people in charge who lack the supervisory skills necessary to lead a team of teachers and take the job seriously. the vibe of the center changed drastically when this change occurred.
  
  I was recently made aware of a situation in which my son was improperly disciplined. He is 2 1/2 and decided to take his shoes off, because that's what 2 1/2 year olds do, and a particular teacher wasn't happy with this, picked him up by his shoulders and screamed in his face, then threw him in time out. The person who observed this occur, reported it to the 2 ladies working the office and was laughed at. I was then made aware of the situation the following day and asked to speak with the Director Ronda.
  
  When Ronda called me, she inappropriately told me about another teachers performance, letting me know that she had been turned into the state by the center and went on to tell me about all the "bad things" that this teacher did, without actually stating a specific, just that she wasn't well liked by other teachers and complained a lot. It wasn't until she stopped talking at that moment, where I was able to tell her I was calling about another teacher and was then informed that the reason why she was telling me about the performance issues of the lead teacher was because she thought the story was fabricated in retaliation for the "trouble she was in."
  
  When I told her about the situation I was referring to, she told me that no other teacher had observed it so it basically didn't happen. She then went on to tell me about the disabilities of the teacher in question and made excuses for her behavior based on those disabilities. Note, I am all about people with disabilities, having the opportunity to work, especially in areas that they are passionate about, but when their behavior isn't appropriate for the type of work they are doing (ex: short tempered, loud, gets agitated easily) their disability becomes an excuse for the behavior and its the children who suffer. A childcare provider, is just that, a provider. They are the ones helping to raise our future, set healthy boundaries, educate the child about what's a good choice or a bad choice so that they make the good one moving forward. Getting physical and screaming at a child in his face because he took his shoes off is absurd.
  
  I left the center recently knowing that I had made a good decision because things were simply falling apart. They put up a good front, but I'll tell you what, they break a lot of rules and don't have any sense of accountability for any of it. A complaint has been filed with the state regarding this matter and you can follow that yourself via Washington State Department of Early Learning.
